The 8th World Ranger Congress will be held at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado, just minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park. The conference is open to members of ranger associations affiliated with the International Ranger Federation (IRF) worldwide or those working to establish ranger organisations.  North American delegates must be endorsed by their respective associations before registering, as home continent delegate numbers will be limited to assure the global flavour of the Congress. The George Wright Society will be serving as a partner with ANPR, helping to provide registration services for the World Ranger Congress.

The theme for World Ranger Congress USA will be “Connecting Parks, Rangers and Communities.”

The QRA would like to offer a very special opportunity for members to apply for sponsorship to attend the World Parks Congress 2016 in the famous Rocky Mountains, Colorado.

To apply for sponsorship, QRA candidates need to answer the following questions:

  1. Why do you want to go to the World Ranger Congress?
  2. How will your participation benefit you and other rangers in your area and the QRA?
  3. How would you encourage Rangers from all over the World to make better connections between Parks, Rangers, and Communities?
  4. How do you interact with people from different walks of life?

Feel free to add any further information to better promote yourself as the ideal ambassador for the QRA at this international forum for Rangers. The entries will be judged by a panel, and we hope to announce the winners at this year’s Muster in Longreach.

The QRA expects the successful candidate to commit to conducting presentations within their region and at the next QRA Muster, as well as write and contribute articles on their experiences at the World Ranger Congress for the QRA’s website, Facebook page and Ranger Rambler.

To apply, email your application to the QRA’s vice-chair Jolene McLellan (jolene.mclellan@npsr.qld.gov.au) by 26 June, 2015, and make sure you come along to the Muster for the big moment when the successful applicants to attend this momentous occasion will be announced!
